Good News provides Chaplains to jails and prisons at no cost to the facilities in which we serve.  We are supported by churches and individuals in the communities in which we serve, and we do not accept any funds from the local, state or federal governments so that we can have a greater degree of liberty in sharing the Gospel in an unhindered manner.  I concentrate my efforts primarily to address the needs of those who are in the facilities, but I am also involved in assisting them in making the transition back into the community when they are released.

Y.O.G.I. – 320-5734 Program in City of Richmond, Department of Justice

The YOGI Program is a six-month case-management program for adjudicated delinquent and status offending youth ages 13.5 and under.  The program incorporates assessment, community referral, competency development, behavioral-monitoring and skill building activities for youth and parents that address risk factors for poor family management, discipline and control practices.

The primary objective is to halt the youth’s further involvement with the juvenile justice system through the provision of services to the family from a holistic, therapeutic, strength and community-based perspective. YOGI Program goals are to reduce delinquent behaviors, improve youth’s academic progress, mental health functioning, family stability, and to provide community activities for youth and their families.

Northside Outreach Center is a small faith based, one year old ministry planted in the Highland Park area of the Northside. Our mission is to see community transformation of these properties, starting with the transformation of the lives of the people.  Trying to bring affordable housing to this community and all that is needed to facilitate this. Richmond Offender Re-Integration Ministry Council

The Richmond Offender Re-integration Ministry Council is a council of Christian Leaders focused on improving the delivery of Prison Ministries within the greater Richmond area Body of Christ.  The council intends to be the central focal point for all prison ministries and attempt to connect the Richmond area churches in a manner to avoid duplication, share resources, bring needs into the limelight, and make better use of existing ministries.  Additionally, the council will facilitate the delivery of aftercare services to reentering Christian offenders, ministries and programs for families of the incarcerated and serve as Criminal Justice advocate with local and state governments.

He advocates for a balanced approach to ministry and business, seeking social, economic, and spiritual returns on investments. Rev. Cooper serves on the Financial Obligation, Housing, Financial & Community Resources Subcommittee of the Virginia Prisoner Reentry Policy Academy Reentry Pilot Project. He has studied under former South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and is passionately invested in replacing punitive justice with restorative justice.

Ms. Lee is employed with the City of Richmond Truancy Intervention Program* which serves truant youth and their families in the City of Richmond.  The goal of the program is to abate school truancy by providing intervention services to youth and their families offered by the Department of Justice Services*.  Some of these services include in-home counseling, anger management groups, parenting skills groups, focus groups for both male and female students, and a variety of recreational and skill building programs.  *The City of Richmond Truancy Intervention Program and the Department of Justice Services are both entities of the City of Richmond government infrastructure and are not affiliated with any particular religious group or organization/non-faith based.
